Bernadette is the founder and director of ADHD Lancashire, bringing nearly two decades of dedicated advocacy to individuals and families navigating life with ADHD and other neurodiverse conditions.
As a Professional Certified Coach and ADHD Life Coach, she specialises in supporting adults in Lancashire who are beginning their journey of understanding and managing Adult ADHD.
Bernadette is passionate about providing structured guidance to help reduce overwhelm, stress, and anxiety, empowering individuals to thrive personally and professionally. Her commitment to helping others discover their strengths and reach their potential is at the heart of everything she does.

Right To Choose Assessments
If you cannot access the NHS service within 18 weeks, use "Right to Choose."
This NHS policy in England allows patients more control over where they receive treatment, including ADHD assessments.
The NHS covers the cost, which can significantly reduce waiting times for an ADHD diagnosis.

Process: This is similar to the NHS process but often quicker. A psychiatrist or ADHD specialist will conduct interviews and assessments.

ADHD Assessment Pathway for Children
CAMHS or Pediatritian
NHS Assessment
Referral: This typically starts with a GP referral to a specialist, such as a psychiatrist, paediatrician (for children), or a specialist ADHD service.
Waiting Time: In some regions, NHS waiting lists can be long, sometimes extending to over a year.
Process: This includes interviews, questionnaires (for both the patient and those who know them well), and often, a review of medical and educational history.
Cost: Free, but may take significant time due to waiting lists.
