Adult ADHD Private Assessment, Diagnosis & Treatments

I completely understand how overwhelming it can feel when choosing the right clinic for an ADHD assessment.

I have over 11 years of experience helping adults navigate this journey; I can point you toward services that are not only professional and GMC-registered but also truly supportive and focused on your long-term well-being.

I can also offer you a free 20-minute Discovery Zoom Call to discuss your options.

Checklist for Choosing Your Adult ADHD Assessment & Treatment Clinic

Acerca de

Clinic and Practitioner Credentials

  • Are the assessing psychiatrists or clinicians registered with the General Medical Council (GMC)?

  • Are they members of other recognised professional bodies (e.g., Royal College of Psychiatrists)?

  • Does the clinic specialise in adult ADHD assessments, not just children or general psychiatry?

Assessment Process

  • Is a comprehensive diagnostic assessment offered (clinical interview, history-taking, validated ADHD questionnaires)?

  • Will you receive a written diagnostic report after the assessment?

  • Does the report meet NHS standards, in case you need it for shared care with your GP?

Treatment Plan and Support

  • Will the clinic provide a personalised treatment plan alongside the diagnosis?

  • Is medication a treatment option if ADHD is diagnosed?

  • Do they offer titration support, including safe medication dose adjustments?

  • Will they liaise with your GP to establish a shared care agreement if ongoing prescriptions are required?

Additional Services

  • Are non-medication treatments discussed (e.g., ADHD coaching, CBT, occupational therapy)?

  • Is there access to follow-up appointments or ongoing management if needed?

Practical Considerations

  • Are the costs clearly outlined upfront, including the assessment fee, medication costs, and follow-up visit fees?

  • What is the waiting time for an initial appointment?

  • Do they offer online assessments if needed, and do NHS General Practitioners accept these for shared care?

  • Please note that some clinics do not offer treatment plans. If you wish to trial medications in the future, you may be required to undergo a second assessment with an ADHD treatment clinic.
