About Bernadette & ADHD Lancashire

Hi, I'm Bernadette Ashton
Many people come to me feeling overwhelmed, frustrated or unsure where to turn next. I provide a calm, supportive space where you can gain clarity, explore your options, build confidence, and discover practical ways forward.
My mission has always been the same:
Founder of ADHD Lancashire, Certified ADHD Life Coach, Author and passionate about helping people understand ADHD.
To help people feel understood, supported, and less alone.

The thing I feel most proud of isn't just the number of people I have supported. It's hearing someone say:
" You make me feel seen, truly understood, and you get me."
Why I Started ADHD Lancashire
When I founded ADHD Lancashire in 2011, I saw how many adults and families were struggling to find support, reliable information, and people who really understood their experiences.
Many felt isolated. Some were navigating a long waiting list, while others were trying to make sense of a new diagnosis or supporting a loved one with ADHD.
I wanted to create a welcoming, supportive community where people could access information, ask questions and feel supported without judgement.
What started as a small group has grown into a community that supports adults, parents and professionals across Lancashire and beyond.
Today, ADHD Lancashire provides ADHD coaching, courses, support groups, resources and guidance through the diagnosis pathway. We help people better understand themselves and move forward with confidence.

ADHD Through My Family's Eyes

ADHD Doesn't Define Potential
Living within a neurodiverse family for over 50 years has given me a unique understanding of how differently ADHD can present from one person to another.
My children have followed very different paths, each with their own strengths and challenges.

One of my daughters, who has ADHD, served for 8 years in the military and is building an impressive academic career, earning a degree in Pediatric Nursing, a Master's in Clinical Research, and now working towards her PhD in Medical research.
My son, who has ADHD & Dyslexia, faced significant challenges throughout his education and early work life, has achieved his goal of becoming a Royal Marine Commando.
These experiences have reinforced something I always believed:
ADHD does not define a person's potential
With the right support, understanding, and opportunities, people can achieve incredible things.
